She describes being overweight as a source of great shame, implying that there's something terrible about being fat. Her view that it's all her fault for being so lazy and not working hard to to get a socially acceptable body is really damaging.
I have no issue with the author honestly expressing her feelings, but she accepts her own shame as natural and normal, and doesn't recognise how socially conditioned it is.
Her observation about losing strength when she lost weight are really interesting. Doesn't surprise me that society fails to value a woman's strength, and prefers us to take up less space and be fragile and uncomfortable.
