Thank you for writing a meaningful repy, but I couldn’t disagree more. Fiction is a product of culture written by people who are immersed in that culture. It can provide profound insights into the forces at work that even the writers might not be aware of on a conscious level. As a writer of fiction I know how this works. Even seemingly lightweight shows like The Office can provide significant insights into contradictions and emerging trends in society. Fair enough it might not be your cup of tea to analyse tv shows in this way but I don’t think it’s fair to criticise others who do. Any debate about white supremacy and fascism is positive in my opinion and the fact this debate is triggered by a tv show doesn’t make it any less important.
