The plan was for her and her boyfriend to live on her parents money so there is a clear financial motive. Controlling parents have many ways of checking up on their children. When their suspicions were finally raised it was very easy for them to discover she was living a lie and her house of cards came tumbling down very fast. The fact they didn’t do this much sooner suggests they weren’t nearly as controlling as she claims. Having strict parents is not in the same league as serious abuse. Of course she’s going to portray them as monsters when she’s on trial for their murder and attempted murder.
